NORTH AMERICA[Pirate]. 6924.92, Voice of the Last DJ (?), at 0220 UTC,
July 14. Tuned into Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers playing "Refugee". YL with "This is Crystal, Voice of the Last DJ" (I believe the last word was DJ, as corroborated by last song, below. Off suddenly at 0225, back a few minutes later with female voice (sounded computer-generated, "Requests, please. I want to play your requests" repeated several times. At 0230 started playing 20 to 30 second clips of songs, e.g., "Pocketful of Kryptonite," and "Back in Black". Last song was Petty, again, "Last DJ" Off for good at 0243. Signal varied, but at peaks was very strong, though lots of lightning-related noise. (Icom R75, Mike Bryant, Louisville, KY) |
