I've often wondered why the British people have so supinely accepted
the now-omnipresent spy cameras that are all over British cities,
while at the same time they are almost slitting each other's throats
over stupid football games. Seems the police state has them
completely cowed -- and frustrated.

Partly true. Britain has a longer experience in Democracy than most
other countries anywhere. Think of Magna Carta. And the stubborn
monarchs who were beheaded...
