In the last year, the few QSL responses I have gotten from South
America were not ALL delayed, but the response from Brasilia seemed to have some trouble getting here and came finally via registered mail. Yesterday's QSL from Ecuador, likewise, came by registered mail, although it was not delayed as far as I can tell. RHCuba keeps threatening (by e-mail) to send a QSL, but they never come. Is there some weird postal rule that stuff coming in from Latin America must be registered or delayed or otherwise? Does such a rule extend to other nations/continents as well? Any insights appreciated...thanks! Bruce |

It came registered, and bore the written evidence of delays and returns all over it. Sheesh. The most obnoxious thing I send anywhere is a cassette tape / CD-Rom with an audio recording on it. If that counts as prohibited "used consumer goods," well - I don't know what to say. Bruce |

I always send airmail; there is no other way, really. It's not the getting there I am worried about - it's the coming back. |

Any insights appreciated...thanks! Bruce I know Cuban hams mostly use QSL managers in Spain. I've got 5 or 6 QSL cards from Cuba, but none have come direct. (Either from Spain or the US for Guantanamo Bay). I had a QSO with Arnie Coro a few weeks back and am waiting to see if he sends a QSL card. I guess I will try sending one to him and see what happens (and see what they say at the post office). Jim(MI) |

I know RHC gets my mail - they read my letters on the air, and I get e-mails back from them with contests and stuff. It appears, however, that it may be a one-way street, for now. At this point, I'd be quite happy with an e-QSL. Bruce |
