The lights are dimmed at the in-house research unit known as SIP, for
Servicio de Informacion Programativa. As many as 20 people are gone, including those in the call center. EVP David Gleason and Senior Vice President Ismar Santa Cruz are no longer in those positions. Lead Univision principal Haim Saban may be planning to take Univision public again, after a very expensive going-private deal with Jerry Perenchio four years ago. If they’re doing this purging of the payroll to pump up the cash flow, it’s a risky short-term strategy. The Hispanic Programming Board of Radio-Info.com began talking about the bloodbath soon after it began yesterday at 10am Pacific time. http://www.radio-info.com/newsletter...-04072011.html What was that quote, Eduardo? We have no right listening to stations outside their protected contours? |

He spent nearly a year describing how he actively protected illegals, while mining them for ratings and research metrics. He posted it worldwide. |

Well, I hope he lands on his feet if he wishes to continue in broadcasting. * He has contributed a whale of a lot of information about radio over the past 2 decades I've been on Usenet and Fidonet before that. * And he has also graciously made available on his website all kinds of radio/TV trade magazines and Broadcasting Yearbooks. * Hear hear. Hopefully, whatever we think of HD radio, we will not wish ill upon a person (unless he's a murdering scumbag, but that's a different story). |

The discussion went on for more nearly a year, and involved many on RRS. |

More likely, he was doing in his off hours while on the road. There was a definite pattern to the hours of his posting activities. When he defended his endorsement of illegals, and his institutional evasion of is responsibility as a citizen in the context of his employments, he did disappear for more than a year, so it's not unlikely that there were repercussions within Univision. But who can say. |
