Sound is not "radiation" as physicists use the term: it's a mechanical vibration transmitted through a medium by collisions between the constituent molecules. People do speak of sound as "radiating" from a source, in the same way that concentric ripples "radiate" from a stone tossed into a pond, but these loose usages describe superficial appearances rather than the nature of the underlying phenomena. As a means of energy transport sound would be classified as a type of conduction AFAICT, as distinct from radiation or convection. Actually, it is exactly the same mechanism which sound uses to transverse the liquid air which it uses to transverse the liquid water. The same waves you see on the surface of the pond transverse the water below, and the air above. In air, you cannot see them, and the frequency of the waves is below human hearing. I mean, grab a book on physics, it is like, DUH! Sound cannot transverse space, a vacuum. However, radio waves do. Both sound waves and radio waves need a media to transverse or they cannot travel a distance. The media in space is the ether (or, aether.) Einstein called it the "gravitational aether." A google search on gravitational aether and Einstein will give one much to digest ... Regards, JS |
