This is very true, every drop of fresh water in any fresh water supply
is now owned by someone. Even if you buy water rights with property,
and you wish to sink a well, in some areas this is regulated, and more
laws for more regulation are on the way ...

There is agricultural land in some places which is useless, simply
because the owner/grower can't get an adequate water supply ...

Where I live, in the San Joaquin Valley, the big pump stations which are
taking water down south to the LA area are already causing sal****er
intrusion into the delta ... in some of the outlying farm lands the
crops are showing reduced yield and salt damage ... overhead irrigation
from deep wells has also caused a lot of selenium poisoning of some of
the crop land and wetlands ...

Over farming has depleated a lot of the soils and trees and grapes are
now grown on what was once grade A crop land ... mineral depletion of
the soils is even causing problems ... the problems of raping the land
are just beginning to show up, but they are going to be becoming real
and expensive very soon ... probably in my lifetime we will be looking a
$5-$10-??? dollar-a-piece tomatoes ...

Regards,
JS
