New Directions
Just dropped in to see what's up. I have just about given up SWLing due to a combination of local noise, bad propagation, and station closures (never thought I'd see V of Russia terminating broadcasts). I've decided to start a new direction to my radio hobbying by becoming an Amateur operator. I got my license Saturday and my transceiver is scheduled for delivery tomorrow!

What did you get? Congrats on the ticket. I ordered a dual-bander Baofeng from Amazon. I almost bought one at the Hamfest where I tested, until I realized I was speaking with Radio-Mart of eBay infamy! KK4TSX |

Wonder what color towel he is using now? His name is Martyn Allison and he's moved from LaGrange, KY (close to Louisville) to Georgetown, KY (closer to Lexington). He had a table at the Louisville Hamfest. Looked like he was primarily marketing Chinese handhelds. Actually seemed like a pretty knowledgeable and friendly guy, but clearly a salesman. KK4TSX |
