New alkaline batts should last 20 hours. How long do yours last.
Don't know if there is an adjustment though. Go to the Yahoo 800
group and do a search.... you'll find it there. Regards

Not sure how long they actually last, but the indicator comes on after only
an hour or so. Radio keeps going for much longer. I put in a set of used
batteries at first, and the indicator was on from the beginning, then
replaced those with new ones.

I have the same problem where the low battery indicator blinks soon
after using new batteries. The only way to fix it is to return the
unit to DRAKE for the fix.

e-mail Drake support and tell them you can not send the radio to ohio
for repair and you want to know how to adjust the batt level indicator
yourself.
I have never seen a post on how to do it but maybe no one has ever
asked drake before !

for those that don't know, Drake does the repair work on the Sat 800

This is a "standard" glitch in many of the 800's, i.e., the indicator shows
up way before the batteries get too low.
I'm not terribly bothered by it after I figured out what was going on, but
it would be nice to make it work right.
I absolutely do NOT want to send my 800 back for service because the darn
thing is perfect in every other way and I don't want to risk having them
screw it up. So I, like Brenda Ann, would really appreciate it if one of the
more talented techs in the group could figure it out and offer a simple
tutorial on how to fix it ourselves.
