Thought some here, in between political rants, might like to see some
pix of my 7' shielded loop. This has replaced the 3' version- a picture of which is included. Although the summer QRN is high, the new loop is proving itself with NDB's that I have never copied before. The Burhans amp was modified to allow reception up through 17 MHz. Local power line noise, TV switches etc are gone. http://www.parelectronics.com/pics_new/P1010023.JPG http://www.parelectronics.com/pics_new/P1010024.JPG http://www.parelectronics.com/pics_new/P1010025.JPG http://www.parelectronics.com/pics_new/P1010026.JPG http://www.parelectronics.com/pics_new/P1010028.JPG http://www.parelectronics.com/pics_new/P1010027.JPG Main loop is from 5/8" CATV hardline and CATV connectors. The vertical support mast is thin wall fiberglass with aluminum inserts at each end to allow clamping- the entire support weights less than 1 pound. Now, to get it on the rotator/tower. 73, Dale W4OP |

Impressive Dale, very impressive. I was considering a 4-foot loop to replace
my 3-foot (also hunting for NDBs) but I backed off because I thought it was too much of a challenge. Now after seeing your 7-foot loop, I'm getting my courage back to try again. Nice job. Looks great Dale.... BUT Nortons says you have a 'Malicious Script' embedded
in '10024'. "Dale Parfitt" wrote in message ... Thought some here, in between political rants, might like to see some pix of my 7' shielded loop. My 1 meter loop was very impressive- I have never heard MW as well- and as quiet. All the local power line noise, TV switching supply garbage etc disappeared. I did direct comparisons with my active whip- the loop won 100% of the time. The only reason I grew it was for the 136 and 185 KHz experimental beacons. I have a nice machine shop and great junk box- but total cost was only a couple of bucks for the oddball toroids I did not have in stock. Dale W4OP |
