I have a "new to me" R-71A and in looking it over I find it stock except for
a mod on the Main Board. The mod as far as I can tell... is an added 3.3K resistor on the negative lead of C88 to the board. This added resistor isn't in the schematic.... I have searched the web for R-71A mods and can't find this one.... any idea what it's for ? The only issue this receiver has is a very "Scotch" "S" meter.... slow when it does work on a very strong signal and although I calibrated it per the R147/R142 adjustment procedure it still reads hardly ever..... idea ? I haven't had a chance to trace that C88 mod... related ?
