Default DX-398 / AT-909 Antenna Question

Alright, I finally broke down and bought one of these puppies. The
price was good, and its always been one of the high rated portables.

I know of the regular mods and plan to do at least a few of them.

While we're at it, a dealer here in .de offers the thing modified with a
pre-amp for the telescopic antenna. Sounds like a pretty good idea given
it's a bit deaf on the whip.

While I've got the case open, I want to be sure that there are no IF
filter mods for the unit.

I haven't been able to find the 2nd IF frequency mentioned anywhere.
Either it's my searching skills or really nobody knows. 8-(

I'd like to have the possibility of using a
sharp ultra-narrow filter for CW reception. Des anybody know
anything about the "Wide/Narrow" circuitry? Is it a crystal filter,
or a DSP circuit?

Probably neither - it switches between two ceramic filters.
