Default Sangean 818/RS DX-390 singal-strength meter

Hi,

Do these radio have a signal-strength meter? My DX-398 has one, and I like
it very much.

Thanks,

Tao

Yes, its on the LCD.
Mine reads full scale on everything

It's a horizontal bar on the LCD.

Mine (DX-392) reads like it should. I know there's an adjustment for that. I'd
have to dig out the service manual I bought when I bought the radio.

A wile back I fed up with overloading I wrote an AGC mod for the ATS
818/DX-190
It involves making the AGC Detector a voltage doubler (grounding anode of D9
and adding a diode)
It was much improvement, however strong 50KW stations here in NYC area (MW
band) still overload it See:

Now if I can only find the text, perhaps I placed it with some diagrams on
the yahoo group.
Ill trade you.

Joe, I still have the "original article....from Elementary
Electronics/May-June 1973" that I sent you. About 1.25meg in jpeg format!
The original article was by Elmer C. Carlson. Would you like me to send it
along?
