- i suppose a fair price, considering its retail price

- but quite frankly, is it worth the paper it's printed on?

Well, many think it is very much worth the paper it's printed on. The
New York Times calls it the TV Guide for world-band radios.

Please see reviews of the book on amazon.com, as well as the following
article from Radio World

That is advertising hype. It IS a good book for the reveiws and articles but
as far as the frequency guide goes, it tends to become outdated real fast.
Because of the lead time in publishing a book, a lot of the info is outdated
when it comes out. There are better frequency guides.

Well, for someone new to shortwave like me, the blue pages allow me to
look up what I am listening to. The 2003 version, which I suppose is
almost a year old, is still pretty accurate.

Perhaps the dealer of the bookstore is willing to lose $ 9.00, the
reason is that the book doesn't sell at all. Due to the publication
inside that book is frozen in time. The only updates that you can
notice is a new cover and more advertisements like Grundig radios made
in China, nothing more. So why should I spend my money for that book.
I want my dollar worth.

It's worth that much to anyone that wants to read the receiver reviews
and other articles.
