"WHAT IS A KINGDOM WITHOUT A SUBJECT?"
In the year of our Lord Two Thousand and Three A.D. From the Kingdom of Passport to World Band Radio, the sovereign Lord Magne has proclaimed to the land of Google shortwave newsgroup, "As for today there will be a 10% increase on taxes to all his subjects like the shortwave aficionados for the fore coming publication of the 2004 Passport to World Band Radio from $19.95 to $22.95. " The sovereign Lord Magne failed to mention to all his subjects where the taxes will go. He didn't make any promises that he will improve or make changes for the 2004 publication. The messenger James Careless has delivered the message to all four corners of the kingdom about the increase in taxes. Nobody can oppose it."So shall be written, so shall be done". http://www.rwonline.com/reference-ro...09.10.03.shtml On this date the fifteenth of June, in the year of our Lord Twelve Hundred and Fifteen A.D. King John of England is known as the high-handed king who imposes high taxes to all his subjects throughout his kingdom. He had a fearful temper and a long memory and his insatiable quest for money and power, combined with his jealous nature caused irreparable damage to John's regency and reputation. Revenge became a game for John and he exacted his pound of flesh from those who crossed him at any cost. This is the cause of all the subjects in the kingdom to revolt against King John because of his character. That has forced the king to sign the Magna Carta charter. The document was basically a list of grievances the barons have against their king. However, Magna Carta two most lasting provisions have benefited much of the world. These are trial by jury of one's peers and a prohibition against new taxes without permission of national representatives. Implied was the authority of the barons to check a king. The embodiment of the rudimentary notions of a modern parliament. The monarchy was not absolute. In English history no document has been as much of a foundation to civil rights as the Magna Carta. This will apply to the sovereign Lord Magne, He should accept criticism and reform thru his publication of Passport to World Band Radio. Because without the shortwave aficionados patronizing his book, this book won't survive. There is a saying "What is a kingdom without a subject ?" or "What is Passport to World Band Radio without the Shortwave Aficionados ?". The Sorcerer |

We would all no doubt like to have a nice low price, but I suspect the cost
of printing, distribution, and Mr Magne's electric bill may have gone up just like such things have gone up for everyone. It's not THAT much of an increase as to steer me away from an otherwise useful tome. "sorcerer" wrote in message om... "WHAT IS A KINGDOM WITHOUT A SUBJECT?" The Sorcerer Shortwave Aficionados? What, like radio amateurs, and the guys who fix up old shortwave boatanchor radios, and utility listeners and DXers who try to dig out fleapower signals from the other side of the world, and the kook radioists, these are the Shortwave Aficionados? None of 'em here on rec.radio.worldband. All we need to feel warm 'n fuzzy are some civilized discussions of the commentaries from our good pals at the BBC World Service and Deutche Welle. That's the acme of worldband fun. Frank Dresser |

James Careless of "Radio World Newspaper" has made a good write up for
Larry Magne, the write up was so good. Everything was so perfect but unfortunately for Larry Magne, he didn't take advantage to tell to the world that he would improve or update his publication of Passport to World Band Radio. Instead, he mentioned the price increase for next publication of the 2004 Passport to World Band Radio that spoiled everything. He should have recovered his reputation to the world. Andre |
