I just purchased my first SW receiver, a Drake SW8. I would like to start
recording data about the stations I receive. I would prefer a computer based log since my computer is next to the radio. Did a Google search and was overwhelmed with the numerous offerings. Anyway am seeking advice on a program that is straightforward for a beginner (at least to the SW world) and offers some potential for future growth. I don't foresee adding a transmit capability to by set up in the near future. Thanks in advance Pat |

You could use an Excel, or Works spreadsheet for the purpose if you already
have either application, or set up a database to use. |

Hi,
This is the best one - http://www.sillett.us.eu.org/swlog/ - check out the requirements for it on his site. -- Take Care Abb N VE3003SWL Windsor, Ontario, Canada "Pat" wrote in message ... Right, in a year or so all software will have this "crap" and you will have
not new technology. In fact with Windows 98 you are running quite a few years behind. This is not bad, but as time goes by you will find less and less that is compatible. You will be assimulated (sp)? "Jack" wrote in message ... Unless you're running Windows XP, it requires the user to install ".NET" another piece of Microsoft net-connectivity gunk to operate. No thanks. I run a lean, clean Windows 98 that doesn't have all that promiscuous crap that bloats the OS and invites infection. From Microsoft's description: What Is .NET? Microsoft® .NET is a set of software technologies for connecting information, people, systems, and devices. This new generation of technology is based on Web services-small building-block applications that can connect to each other as well as to other, larger applications over the Internet. That's positively scarey. No thanks. Not on MY system. |

It has all the features you want in addition to logging like a reception report generator, and various log reports. It also imports the HFCC and ILG shortwave databases and has a bearing and distance calculator among other things. You can check it out and download the software at: www.paraclete-is.com/wrlog.htm The download is a 30-day demo that can be unlocked once you register the software. Registration is only $19.95. Good listening! Charlie |

Hi,
As good as Windows 98 SE was, I find my Windows XP Pro far better and more stable. My internet (I have DSL) runs noticeably faster with XP than it did with 98 SE and I have a 450 MHz PIII! As a matter of fact, most of my programs run faster un XP. Before you criticize Robert's program, try it and if you don't like it, don't use it - to each his/her own. Even under 98 SE I thought this was an excellent program.... -- Take Care Abb N VE3003SWL Windsor, Ontario, Canada "Jack" wrote in message ...
