I saw a Grundig pocket radio on sale at Rat Shack for $49 CAN.
I tried it, but it was a POS that couldn't even receive WWV :-\ -- Gregg *It's probably useful, even if it can't be SPICE'd* http://geek.scorpiorising.ca |

Course unless you build your own, thats gonna run you another 50 bucks or more. I have the Sony ICF-SW7600GR and payed 130 for it. Its arguably one of the best small portables for the money. It picked up Radio Botswana, Radio Orbita 3 (Russian 50kw) , and Radio Nigeria from Vermont last night with just a short outside random wire. Some of the cheaper Sangeans are also noted to be quite good and less expensive. mike |

My own radio is a Sangean ATS-505 (Radio Shack DX-402), and I got it during a big RS sale for a C-note - they normally retailed it for $150. I don't see how you can get more performance for less money than that deal(at least when buying new). I like my Grundig eTR7-- $79.95 street price. When I'm working in the yard,
I'll stick it in my shirt pocket with the antenna extended. Bill, K5BY |

The least expensive rx that's quite decent seems to be the Sangean ATS-505 right now. I've seen it on sale for ~100 EUR; the next step up would be a Sony ICF-SW7600GR. One of the Sony's predecessors (like the 7600G that is virtually the same reception wise) on the used market might also be worth considering if in good condition. The Sangean ATS 606A is smaller than the 505 and much more solid.
They can be had for under $100 occasionally. On 24 Sep 2003 00:08:12 GMT, (Diverd4777) wrote: Although I do like the Jwin JX-M14, it fails in several respects; Anyone know of a cheap, Small, Digital, double reduction receiver ?? RSVP to group Dan |

I own that small receiver under brand name "Siemens".
for many years now. An "autostore" function for FM stations is very practical. Is is also equipet with alarm clock named "human waking alarm". But under AM range (150 kHz - 29.999 MhZ) there is no possibility to hear LSB, USB, CW. David wrote: The Sangean ATS 606A is smaller than the 505 and much more solid. As much as I enjoy listening to the Coast Guard or GHFS, I don't miss
them when hiking. On Thu, 16 Oct 2003 09:00:24 +0200, Igor Gros wrote: I own that small receiver under brand name "Siemens". for many years now.
