Default Any news on JRC NRD-555?

Just a guess here, but has there been any news on JRC's replacement SWL rig
for the 545?

I'm thinking about buying a 545, but I'd rather wait if they're coming out
with a new radio. I bought a R8 back in late '93 only to have the R8-A and
R8-B come out... I bought a FRG-100B only to have DSP come along...

The new Icom R-7800 looks great and like an ideal SWL rig... but a little
overkill... and probably about $10k... but the 32-bit DSP x 4 looks sweet.

I don't believe we will see a successor to the
545 as JRC appears headed out of the market
at this level, while proceeding with much more
expensive sets like the NRD 271 DSP.

As for the FRG100B, it's a fantastic radio. You
can pick up a Timewave DSP unit and still have
DSP processing..

Hmm.. sad news. I thought JRC made a great radio in the 545, but they could
update it with the latest technologies. Bummer.

I had that exact setup for almost a year... I had the FRG-100B and a
Timewave DSP, but in truth, I didn't see much improvement in my signal
quality -- voice anyway. I'm sure it would help with data, but the voice
SSB improvement wasn't worth the price of the Timewave.
