They work just fine as long as one follows the instructions on the package for
properly trimming the coax before inserting it into the connector.

Yup! When all else fails read the instructions.

The EE school of a major university (which can be deduced from my
return address) had to re-wire a whole floor of a major building because
the guys who made thinnet connections with twist-on BNC's neglected to
fold the braid back over the outer insulation before screwing on the
connector. We had to re-pull *miles* of cable.
Also, the twiston's come in several sizes. The ones for RG-58U
and 59U are NOT interchangable. Get the right ones, follow the
stripping directions and they work very well.
