Hello What is a good shortwave radio? You don't give the price. The Sony 7600GR is nice at $150 for SSB. The Drake R8B is nicer at $1400. -- Ron Hardin On the internet, nobody knows you're a jerk. |

For overall value its still hard to beat a Sony 2010. If portability isnt a
big deal then the Ten Tec RX 320 DSP black box rcvr is a good value. Both are available used on eBay pretty often. Although many disagree, I like the ICOM R 10 handlheld. With a good antenna it gets decent HF SSB and has a voice squelch that quiets the rcvr between SSB transmissions (not to be confused with a a carrier squelch). It also rcvs VHF and UHF. I got mine used for $200. |

Aside from being able to be controlled with a laptop which many people carry for other reasons, the RX-320 can also be controlled with a PDA. Both are available used on eBay pretty often.
