I tried e-mail but it came back.
Are you sure it's Mackay 3041 and not a McKay Dymek 3041?? If so that could be a real fine piece of gear, they made a MW receiver but they don't show up very often. I have the McKay Dymek DA5 (there is one on ebay right now) ferrite bar antenna and you couldn't pry it out of my hands. If your party has the antenna that goes with it, grab it if price is any way near reasonable. Rob Mills |

be a real fine piece of gear, they made a MW receiver but they don't show up Fred Osterman's book shows ITT-Mackay Marine as being a high-grade military manufacturer, with a big presence in the pro marine market (now they;re out of the ship radio business). mcKay-Dymek was a CA based manufacturer which made interesting radios (some with Collins filters) which were to be home units..expensive, and with good audio quality, but not truly prograde. I've had several, and have nothing bad to say about them. They are covered in Fred's book too. Might even be on Fred's website www.dxing.com but didn't check. mcKay-Dymek was bought by Stoner Communications (in the Northwest WA or OR), and all they make now is the DA-100 "active antenna". It's pretty good. |

![]() It is an ITT Mackay receiver. I also decided not to buy it, I'm going to wait and get either a Harris or a Racal (maybe both).. Probably a mistake not getting it at that price,(560.00 or so) but you live and learn. However I do know the Mckay-Dymek line. I remember them from the 70's and 80's. I think they also made a CB Radio,. not positive but I think they did. I own the McKay-Dymek Active antenna and it is a good performer. Its not my primary antenna but I do use it on a regular basis. I have it up at around 40 feet or so and it's pretty free of all man made noise. "When in doubt, mumble." "Radioman390" wrote in message ... Are you sure it's Mackay 3041 and not a McKay Dymek 3041?? Rick, Radioman,
mcKay-Dymek was a CA based manufacturer which made interesting radios (some with Collins filters) which were to be home units..expensive, and with good audio quality, but not truly prograde. I've had several, and have nothing bad to say about them. They are covered in Fred's book too. Radioman I figured that out after I opened my mouth. I even have the same book, just haven't opened it for a while. I use my DA-5 with my RX320 and it really makes a performer out of the 320 on MW. After I made the post yesterday I went fishing on ebay for McKay Dymek and some one just sold a DA5 and someone else just put up a really nice looking McKay Dymek DR-44. Its not my primary antenna but I do use it on a regular basis. I have it up at around 40 feet or so and it's pretty free of all man made noise. Rick I have considered one of those mostly because of the quality and performance of the DA-5 that I have. I don't have the real-estate to but up a lot of antenna, have a 35 ft B&W inverted "V" and thought I would supplement it with a vertical. I have most of the stuff to put the AMRAD active together but don't seem to find the time. If I don't get it going by spring I may have to get me a "store bought " one. RM~ |
