Default Sony AN-LP1 Active Antenna

I've got the AN-LP1 antenna that comes with the Sony 7600GS radio. It
looks like the picture on the Universal Radio website where the wire
from the control box plugs directly into the loop antenna. (This is
what is shown in the instructions also).

However, there is another AN-LP1 shown on the Radio Netherlands
website where the control box wire connects to an "adaptor type plug"
about 3 inches long and that plug then plugs into the loop antenna.
What's this about? Why don't I have this adaptor type plug and what
is it? Why does it come with some AN-LP1's but not others?????

Any info. will be much appreciated. Thanks

Hey RR,
I just purchased a new AN-LP1 and there is a filter that plugs in
between the loop antenna and the amplifier box. According to the pamphlet
it is used to filter out "other electrical appliance" noise.
BTW. if anyone wants on of these Sony no longer has them available to
retailers. I do not know if the product is discontinued in the USA but that
is what I was told.

Where can I get one? Does Universal have them in stock now? I tried
the Sony Store here in San Juan and they told me they are no longer in
stock.

Rob, if memory serves, what you are describing is an electrical noise
suppressor which when attached reduces the effects of locally
generated interference, but also will attenuate to a slight degree the
signals heard by your receiver.

Why is the noise suppressor apparently included only with the US or
North Amercian model of the AN-LP1?

Thanks to all for the info...If anyone has an AN-LP1 that is trashed except
for the "noise filter", let me know... I'll gladly pay a fair price for it
:-)

Hi Rob,
The part you describe is for reducing electrical noise from your
home's appliances (TV,Washers etc). I have an AN-LP1 and find that it
does not really do much and as long as your antenna is placed away
from a wall dimmer switch/TV etc it is not really of much use. I
think the part has a ferrite rod inside. I would not worry about not
having it.
