Default Opinion on Tecsun BCL-2000 or PL-200?

The BCL-2000 is a great radio for the price! It has nice features, but it is
a great performing dxer. I just got mine yeaterday, and I compared it side
by side with my dx-440. It blew the 440 away. It was receiving stations that
didn't even bump the meter on the 440!

I clearly heard Radio Vietnam last night, and a ton of other stations that I
had never knew existed before. I live in the upper midwest and am looking
forward to having a lot of fun with this radio. Even my wife, no sw fan at
all, loved it and showed some interest.

Great radio for under $60!

Hi,
I'm looking for opinions from people who have bought either the Tecsun
BCL-200 or the PL-200 radios. There are only a few (mostly very
positive) reviews of these on the web; but you can never tell how
"interested" these few reviews are ...

Thanks.

This is a decent radio with good performance for the price. It has
excellent audio and the selectivity is also acceptable for a portable.
The main thing I disliked was the tuning backlash caused buy the dial
string/pulley/varicap tuning scheme. Too bad a direct or (plastic)
gear drive wasn't used. A very good analog tuned radio for the price
in any case.

The PL-200 is similar to the PL-230 and Grundig
YB-550, but not a "vertical" type radio... standard
shape. Neither has SSB.

From what I've read it has tinny speaker sound but
is otherwise a fine radio. Being small, that is probably
unavoidable. It's Chinese and runs on 220v a/c or
with AA batteries. It comes with rechargeable
1100s.

There are some for sale on eBay, mainly from a very
reliable dealer named Liypn. Here's his eBay store address
http://www.stores.ebay.com/id=68650377&ssPageName=L2
He includes a manual in English and 110/220v converter free.
The red one looks pretty cool. The PL-220 ad from there
mentions 2 AA batteries, and 3 AA batteries.
One is a typo, but I don't know which. Which ever is right
is what one would get with the radio.

I almost got one, then decided on the Degen DE1102 from
Liypn.
