Default What's Wrong With This Place?

I stop in to this NG a couple times a month for info pertaining to SW
listening and equipment.
Lately, it seems that most of the posts pertain to everything but SW.
I'm forced to wade thru a huge pile of BS just to find any meaningful
posts.
People calling each other names and continuing childish bantering back and
forth.
People espousing their political views.
People taking on "sarcastic personas" and trying to be funny.
And just general rudeness.
Can't you people (only the ones that fit into the above categories) just
grow up.
Either talk about SW or stay out.
I'm sure there are more than enough political forums, hate forums, and
juvenile forums to frequent.
I'm still relative new at the SW thing and I truly need a place to learn.
I used to think this was the place, but no more.
You're turning me and countless other newbies away with all the BS.

You got a question, ASK IT.

You'll get the best answer in the world from one or more of the best
qualified SW people in the word on S-W.

Try it and watch!!!!

Don't open the BS, just a bunch of guys playing to pass the time.

That's right! Ask questions!!

And don't be intimadated by the strong opinions here. It's a good sign! If
somebody gives you the wrong answer, you'll hear about it!

I'm confused. Is this an opinion or political statement?

It's an illustration of why everybody should be listening to SW radio. We
who listen to Alex Jones and Texe Marrs have heard the stories about Skull &
Bones and Bohemian Grove and would never embarass ourselves with such
ignorant speculations.

Next thing Betty Bowers will be wondering if George Bush is a cannibal.
Sheesh.

[snip]

When I started Outlook Express this afternoon and clicked
rec.radio.shortwave, the status bar said "226 messages" not
downloaded. My killfile, filters and ignored threads reduced
the total that showed up to 88. (or 39% of what was waiting).
Not bad.

I still get some "BS", but I don't argue with 61% less than
I would had to wade through.

PLONK those who offend you, ignore the threads that have
nothing to do with what you are interested in. If you don't know
how... tell us your newsreader and someone who uses the
same one will explain what to do.

Absolutely. I've never had to use a filter in here before. But now I have
three (I think) in the file, and the part that's sad is that one of them
'sometimes' gives good SW info or helps. I even emailed him politely to ask him
if he'd stop copying the other guys drivel, he didn't reply to me, so I took
it as that meant he was still going to be a game-player in here, so 'gondi.'

But the S/N ratio exceeded the level of help given. When I get back to outlook
it'll be better. I just filter and move on and if someone continues to copy
and paste the person I have filtered, then I filter them.

Then....lol....if it gets to the point there's nothing to read in here, I'll
stick to the yahoo groups that are moderated that I'm members of. :-)

It's a shame isn't it. {?}

Incorrect. I did email you to state that it would be darn near impossible to
respond to the posts without keeping the original material there to keep things in
context.

Read your email.
