Has anybody else been listening-I haven't seen any mention of it here?
Radio Netherlands has apparently ended its 4-6 minute news bulletins at the start of its English newscasts for a full half hour of Newsline on weekdays and Europe Unzipped/Wide Angle on Sa/Su respectively. I would guess that it's a cost cutting measure, as the bulletins were live and Newsline etc. is prerecorded. Since the BBC and DW have ended their NAm broadcasts-and the Beeb's credibility has gone down the tubes-that leaves who for international news to NAm? Spain? They're fine on the weekdays-although reception in California is not always reliable-but when major news breaks on weekends like the fighting today in Baghdad I miss the RN news bulletins. I've tried Radio Australia but they're mostly concerned with Pacific Rim news. Anybody got a good source for international news on the weekends? |

Besides, you can always stream it over the net. The BBC has hardly quit broadcasting to North America. They are on
both XM and Sirius. On Sun, 04 Apr 2004 18:33:35 -0700, tommyknocker wrote: Has anybody else been listening-I haven't seen any mention of it here? For someone who lives in the Caribbean, I always get a clear signal of
the BBC on 5975. That's why I was confused for a few days when they announced that they were ending their NAm service but I was still hearing them loud and clear. By the way, nice collection of radios, Dan. I am sure you enjoy and tune all of them. Marty San Juan, PR |
