Default Eton E1 XM Availability

I was looking at Universal Radio's website today and I noticed a
chamge in the estimated availability of the E1 XM:

"This new model is expected in the last quarter of 2004."

I think the announcement said second-half of '04 before.

Waiting for Grundig to release their new E1 XM, formerly Satellit 900,
seems like an exercise in futility. Earlier this year, I think, the
expected release date was "Spring of 2004" and of course let's not
forget the 5 years of teasing about it along the way. Does anybody
remember when it was about finsished testing and ready for manufacture
when Grundig found that the microprocessor they selected was no longer
going to be made/available? If/when this radio gets released I sure
hope it's worth the wait.

Well, at least they've narrowed the time frame a bit.

Mike, Last word I have on the Eton One delay is due in December. Eton has
postponed the introduction date to assure quality control & to iron out
production issues. This ought to be worth waiting for. Eton is just trying to
do things right.

This radio will never be released. It's been RSN for 10 years. It

Do you really believe that or are you just being sarcastic?

I "believe" that because it's true. This thing *has* been "coming
RSN" for 10 years. It's "availability" has been pushed back at least
a dozen times now. Grundig had ads for it in the *1996* Passport!

Dan

I think you may have to go 'crow' hunting this coming winter.

That's good news. I'm glad Eton is taking their time to get the bugs
ironed out and get this thing right. I hope they are incorporating
some of the things they learned in the aftermath of the Sat. 800
launch and subsequent QC issues. For all of us who have been waiting
for this receiver since the early Sat. 900 prototype days, what's
another half-year of waiting?

I'd be happy to, if only to see them finally release the damn thing.
However, when they announce "availability" has been delayed again
until "mid 2005", will *you* go crow hunting?

Dan

Sure. I'll give them until April-1st. :-)
