Default SAM2800

MSNBC just announced that the plane carrying Reagan's casket back to
California has the call sign SAM 2800. SAM stands for Special Air Mission
IIRC.

Anyone hearing it? Any suggested freqs? I can remember a bunch of
frequencies known as "Mystic" that were used for AF1, AF2, and SAM flights.

Actually it's SAM 28000. I listened the other day on 11175, and am listening
now, but haven't heard it.

Lots of other frequencies to choose from, including VHF/UHF.

It's 28000, which is pronounced two-eight-thousand. AF1 doesn't use
shortwave as much as they used to, especially since the 747's came into
service. Much of their communications goes through satellites now. It
used to be fun listening to the HF phone patches from AF1. I once heard
Henry Kissinger talking to a woman who happened to live in my area. She
was the mother of a presidential staff member who was on the plane. He
got Kissinger to call his mother and wish her a happy birthday. She was
delighted.
