Degen DE1102 Basic Operating Manual

CHARGE RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES:
Plug in, turn radio off, press CHARGE btn, within 4 sec. press a btn 1-9
to select charging hours. Charging will cease if radio is turned on.
Charge NIMH batteries NO MORE than 7 hrs.

SET THE CLOCK:
Radio off, press ENTER btn twice, within 6 sec. press number btns to set time.
When radio is on hold EXIT btn .5 sec to show time.

SET TIME MODE:
Disconnect AC and remove batteries. Wait till display dissappears +30 sec.
Connect AC or insert batteries, quickly press ENTER btn twice. Within 3 sec
press btn 1 for 12 hrs, btn 2 for 24 hrs.

MW STEP SELECTION:
Follow the Set Time Mode instructions above but press ENTER once. 9 - 10
appears in display. In 3 sec Press btn 1 for 9KHz, btn 2 for 10KHz.

SELECT METER BAND:
Press SW/METER btn to cycle through 49M to 16M SW bands.

SELECT WIDE OR NARROW FILTER:
Press AM:W/N btn in MW or SW till W or N appears in display.

SELECT PAGE:
Press P btn then in 3 sec the number btn for page 0-9.

DIRECT FREQUENCY ENTRY:
Press ENTER, in 6 sec press number btns.
To tune in 1KHz steps you must be in page 8 (MW only) or 9 (SW only).

QUICK FREQUENCY ENTRY:
Press BAND (FM,MW,SW) btn, press ENTER, press partial frequency,
press enter.
Example: SW BAND button, ENTER, 75, ENTER = 7500KHz.

MEMORY SCAN and STEP SCAN:
Press SCAN btn. When mem appears in the display, it will scan the set
memory channels. When step appears it will frequency scan. Step scan
mode hold down + or - btn for 1 sec to begin automatic scan.
Automatic scan does not work on memory pages 8 and 9.

PRESET STATIONS:
10 pages 0-9, 19 presets per page.
Pages 1-6 - random.
Page 7 - FM only
Page 8 - MW only (1KHz tuning steps)
Page 9 - SW only (1KHZ tuning steps)
Page 0 - For ATS function, random preset

Go to desired page, tune to desired frequency, press M/LOCK btn, in 5 sec
press a number button 1-19. For double-digit number first press 0, 1 will
appear in display, then press last number. New presets will overwrite
previous ones at the same memory location. To delete a memory, tune to it
and then press DEL btn, 3 sec, DEL btn again. To delete a whole page, go to
the desired page, press DEL for 1 sec, page number will flash, in 3 sec press
DEL again, station memories will be erased from that page.

RECEIVING SSB:
You must be in page 9. Press AM:W/N btn till N appears in display. Set scan to
step scan. Press SSB btn on right side of the radio, use wheel above SSB btn
for fine tuning.

LOCK FUNCTION:
Hold M/LOCK button until key symbol appears in the top of the display. Hold
M/Lock for 1 sec to unlock.

SET BEEP ALARM:
Radio off. Press ENTER three times. Bell symbol will flash in display.
In 6 sec use number btns to enter desired alarm time. Bell symbol will cease
flashing but remain in display. Alarm will sound 60 sec. Press any button to
silence. To cancel alarm: radio off, ENTER three times, quickly press EXIT btn.
Beep is loud and not controlled by volume buttons.

RESET:
Unplug and remove batteries for 30+ sec, then reinstall or plug in. Memories
will not be erased except for clock and timers.
