From today's Daily Howler (Bob Sommersby): Man, what a load of crap. There isn't an entire sentence that doesn't contain at least two misrepresentations. But just for kix, let me go after one resoundingly stupid fraud: More striking than Rice's claim of ignorance was the tardiness of this Times report. When Judis and Ackerman published that New Republic report, they quoted unnamed authorities flatly saying that Rice had "lied" when she made that statement on Late Edition back in September 2002. The tubes could only be used for nukes? Sixteen months ago, in June 2003, Judis and Ackerman quoted experts saying that Condi had "lied." I now quote unnamed, but much smarter, authorities: "The unnamed authorities who said that Condi lied were themselves lying." And let me quote other unnamed, even smarter still, authorities, who said, "The unnamed, but much smarter, authorities that clifto quoted were absolutely right. And yojimbo is stupid for thinking any rational person would be swayed by his crap." Incidentally, she never said they could only be used for nukes. What she said was that they were of a quality and expense that would only be justified if nukes were the object. Obviously, metal tubes could be used for carrying water, rolling dough, whapping asses, etc., but only a dope would buy the most expensive tubes available for jobs that could be done by any old tubes. -- "One month from today, the American dream is on the ballot." -- John Kerry, 10/2 So is the American Nightmare, Jack-F...
