Ultimate MW Reciever???
I already got it Ten Tec RX-340 and a 2100 foot skywire loop up 125 feet on the low end...almost 600 feet high on the high end. What could be better? From Central VA I pick up hundreds of stations daily....at NOON! From Canada to Mexico.....From Alaska to Western Europe Around 11 PM it gets better! "Jim Hackett" wrote in message nk.net... ![]() "Smitty" wrote in message news ![]() And no.....Power lines DONT show up on aviation charts no matter how high over valleys....abandoned or not...planes have no bizz in valleys but if its any consolation while these same lines were "hot" they took out a helicopter once LOL! What a coincidence. An old friend of mine was lucky enough to live next to one of those abandoned power lines. Worked alot of great DX until one day the power company was running field training for new linemen and reactivated that section of the line so that the the new guys could get some meaningful experience. It fried over $15,000 worth of his radio gear and burned down half of his house. LOL! LOL ! LOL ! |

![]() "Jim Hackett" ) writes: The guy, I don't remember his name, who was building the "ultimate" M.W. receiver? Not another Satellit 900 fiasco, I hope... -- Jim It was Pete KE9OA. Remember, this is to be from a company that isn't in the market already. I get the impression that if the receiver happens it's because Pete is working on it himself. From July 24th to this newsgroup: I don't have a picture of this unit. Right now, I am working seven days a week on a couple of projects at work. This will go on for the next couple of months. To get this prototype up an running, I was averaging 3 hours of sleep a night for a week straight. Last night was the first time I slept for 8 hours. In another week, I will start the Fractional N synthesizer design. In other words, he's working on various things at work, and it seems like the shortwave receiver is lower priority. Around the same time, I'm sure he said something about the receiver was going on the backburner for a while, but I've not tried to see if there is a message to that effect. Actually, that thread back in July was started by you too. If you're so curious about this receiver, you should at least keep track of the details. Seeing that you started that older thread, and the tone of both, I now suspect you are less interested in the receiver than in pointing out it's "not here yet". Michael |
