First of all sorry to hear of the RX340 having a problem. Care to share what the problem is? I am a BIG Ten Tec fan & have had nothing but good luck with them. I have bought manyl radios from them.New & used. Some I have kept some I have sent back with the 30 day return policy. I'm not sure about emailing them but if you need help in the service dept. call & ask for Paul Clinton. He is the service manager. I am very suprised he could not tell him when he would be working on his radio. Scott or Stan in sales are also very helpfull. The 340 I own now....that I did not buy from tentec.....did not have the latest rev of firmware chips in it. I called Paul & he sent me the new chips. It took 2 days & of course there was NO CHARGE. That has happened with other parts many times in the past. Maybe some of my luck comes from the fact I live in KY & talk "tenaseeeun" real well. I am a very satisfied customer after owning 11 TenTec radios. Just my opinion of course. 73, Ken Those of who bought the RX-350 have not seen a firmware update in over two years - while all their other upgradeable products have been updated several times. They appear to have abandoned the radio - and us. I am dissapointed. -- Brian Denley http://home.comcast.net/~b.denley/index.html |

om... his tuning jumps frequency when using the knob Sounds like the freq. tuning encoder may be bad? It is an Oak Grigsby optical encoder. Real easy to fix if that is the problem. I am suprised they did not send him another encoder to try before sending the receiver to them.I assume he did call service before sending it to them. When I bought my Omni VI plus back in 1999 I went through 2 encoders before I found a good one.The bad ones would last 2 or 3 weeks before they started getting flakey. The VP.....Tom Sellevetti I think was his name or something like that...called me & personally apologized even though it was a supplier problem. In this case Oak Grigsby had a bad "lot" of encoders & had to scrammble to make new ones for replacement. this is not the Ten-Tec of old. their service and gone downhill over the past few years. That may be true. old performance is not indictitive of current service I agree. 73, Ken |
