Many true blue SWLers have long since left this NG and are now on other
groups, some moderated.

Very true and especially when they are moderated. I block sender the off
topic posters here and get about 30-40 good postings a day, just about
worthwhile supporting this group I feel. I don't have a clue why these
political posters don't stick to rec.politics or whatever its called where
they might find readers!!

Yep!
Discussion about *broadcasts* and NOT about *_content_ of broadcasts*.
Every content you wish to discuss you can find for sure a specialized
newsgroup for.
Except the content itself is focussed on the own or others transmission
like dx/listeners-information or broadcast schedules etc.
You want to discuss on the content of the numbers-stations, right?

It is outrageous to say that you can discuss the frequency, location,
strength, and language, but it is off topic to discuss what they said on the
broadcast. If that were true, then this group should be called
rec.radio.shortwave.frequencyalerts

It good to see a smart person in here with a clear mind.

Perhaps you can help all these idiots understand the appropriate
behavior for this newsgroup.

There are are plenty of groups specialized to talk on political and
other topics. If you want political, geographical or sexual talk go to
the related group(s)!
Newsgroups are related on themes. And rrs is related on _receiving_ not
on _contetnt_ of transmissions. Period.
It's fine to point out what you're actually hearing on shortwave or
other freqs. But if you want to discuss on non receiving related content
make a follow-up to the related group. Thanks.

I agree, RadioFlyer is wrong.

You almost had me confused for a moment. You're RoadRunner Steve, not
Primary.net Steve

I agree whole heartedly with your sentiments. I came here to read up
on shortwave related topics and gain insightful knowledge on where to
listen to certain broadcast as well as what interesting, less known
broadcast were available to receive.

I have to weed through hundreds of posts of pure "OFF-TOPIC" nonsense
to find relevelant postings. One time, last month, when I pulled down
new headers I think it was 72 of 102 were political postings by one
specific individual up in Canada. The remaining 30 were mostly
political retorts to the sot in Canada. Maybe one or two shortwave
related postings existed. I should haven't to weed through 100+
postings to find one, maybe two shortwave radio postings. That's just
purely wrong.

It's too bad they're too stupid to see the errors of their ways, but I
imagine if I started posting scores of some other "OFF-TOPIC" genre
into the group they'd all be crying and whining about it! IMHO,
they're all hippocrits.

Don't worry Volker, you're correct on this issue.

Fifteen uneducated, mindless idiots on one side of an issue versus
four or five on the other side doesn't make the idiots correct.

Please refer to the previous post of mine with reference to
the newsgroup charter for a clearer understanding that
broadcast content is on topic. Thanks much!

A newsgroup with a special topic is to prefer over any other usegroup it
may be a "special part" of.
With other words: Any topic a special newsgroup exists for, is offtopic
everywhere(!) else. This is how newsgroups _basically_ work. Take it.
