STOP YOUR OFF TOPIC POSTING
"JuLiE Dxer" wrote in message ... Thank you for your reply, Sanjaya.. That was my approach for the first month or two. I became very irritated once I figured out that quite of few of these morons were changing their Identities to get around kill filters. I manage to link one sot to about 15 identities in one week or two. I've actively emailed all their ISPs once I deemed their activity merited such actions. I've had to resort to adding topic filtering too which will undoubtedly filter out some good postings I'd rather not have filtered. 73 MJ On Sun, 07 Nov 2004 19:10:20 GMT, "Sanjaya" wrote: "JuLiE Dxer" wrote in message . .. [snippage] I have to weed through hundreds of posts of pure "OFF-TOPIC" nonsense to find relevelant postings. One time, last month, when I pulled down new headers I think it was 72 of 102 were political postings by one specific individual up in Canada. The remaining 30 were mostly political retorts to the sot in Canada. Maybe one or two shortwave related postings existed. I should haven't to weed through 100+ postings to find one, maybe two shortwave radio postings. That's just purely wrong. You're absolutely right. But it's not going to stop. The other day I got home from work, ran OE and clicked this group. The status bar said 145 messages not downloaded. When my killfile and ignored threads filter got done I had 33 mostly on topic posts to look through. 77% cleanup rate. It takes a little effort but it's worth it to me. In fact, if so many people didn't bother to respond to the off topic posts... well, you get the picture. Trolls might go away if no one replies to them, but that's not going to happen either. I'll just keep filtering and clicking the posts that I'm interested in. |

STOP OFFTOPIC POSTING
"JuLiE Dxer" wrote in message ... It good to see a smart person in here with a clear mind. Perhaps you can help all these idiots understand the appropriate behavior for this newsgroup. On Sat, 06 Nov 2004 20:27:54 +0100, Volker Tonn wrote: -=jd=- schrieb: The group name is "Rec.Radio.Shortwave", not "Rec.Radio.Shortwave.Technical-Aspects-Only"... There are are plenty of groups specialized to talk on political and other topics. If you want political, geographical or sexual talk go to the related group(s)! Newsgroups are related on themes. And rrs is related on _receiving_ not on _contetnt_ of transmissions. Period. It's fine to point out what you're actually hearing on shortwave or other freqs. But if you want to discuss on non receiving related content make a follow-up to the related group. Thanks. |

And that's about the only thing I'm saying. It's funny how hated a
person can become for taking that single stand. That's because there are bullies in this ng. They'll post whatever they please, and whine about everyone else. |

I agree that random postings by political radicals should not be allowed,
but I think that people with a common interest in shortwave should be able to post off topic in moderation without getting jumped on. "Dyuob Poltice" wrote in message ...
