Default TM-V7A and others question

advisable to leave the radio
in the car. What do the owners think/do? Thanks,John/WD9IWC

John, about 15 years ago I blew up a 2 meter radio after leaving it
sit out in the car all night on a below 0 nite. Took the finals and
drivers out. Resistance values of components change when introduced
to extreme temperatures. With newer radios, it is possible that swr
fall back circuitry may prevent the situation that I experienced, but
I am not going to chance it. I always either bring my radio inside or
else make sure not to power it, or especially transmit on it till
temperatures inside the box are more stable. I might be being too
carefull, but repairs are expensive so I am not taking any chances.

Good Luck
