Why does it cost more? I guess someone contacted his bidders right? Why
else would he do it??

That would be the logical answer. If no one knows who the bidders are they
cannot be warned about Radio-Mart or Gottahaveit1995, or who ever he operates
as.

I hate that guy not only only because he rips off people, but he gives the
hobby a bad name to beginners.

I did like the response he gave to someone about that JRC NRD-whatever setup he
had, saying he had, what was it, two other setups just the same in his shack,
and he was selling one of them. At least the one was purchased a few weeks
before by Gottahaveit.

Wonder if he actually makes any money?

Don't get me wrong. I used to spend some time looking for good deals on eBay
too, buy 'em, clean 'em up, fix 'em, whatever and sell them again myself.

But, I always did it under the same name.

There is a reason for that.

His 2nd ebay ID is gottahaveit1995. He was shill-bidding (bidding up his
own equipment) with the gottahaveit1995 ID early this year and was dumped
off of ebay, thus the "Summer vacation".

If you dig really deep into radio-mart's feedback history, you will find one
little mistake made by Mr. Martyn: he gave HIMSELF feedback. About two to
three years back gottahaveit1995 listed a feedback report for a purchase
from radio-mart (himself). Check current 30-day buying history of
gottahaveit1995, look at serial numbers of Drake, Collins......two weeks
later the same radio, same serial, is for sale at radio-mart.

Reason for "private buyer list": quite obvious if you want to bid up your
own stuff!

Who knows how many other ebay ID's this guy has.

Private auctions do make it harder for people to detect shill bidding,
but I suspect the main reason he's going for private auctions is some
folks here were talking about contacting his bidders to "warn them"
about his history.

Many folks won't bid on private auctions, so this will probably reduce
his profits.

I see nothing wrong with someone buying an item that's poorly listed for
resale, or with buying an item, fixing it, and then reselling it for a
profit.

The problem is it appears the main thing Martyn does is puff up the
descriptions and leave out any mention of flaws noted by the previous owner.

But his auctions can be entertaining. I've seen him mention listening
to historical events happen on a particular radio a decade before the
radio was introduced.
