Default Which is better?

I see both the Sony SW 55 and SW 77 on ebay. Which is better? Why?

The SW77 hands down. I base my opinion on nothing factual what-so-ever, just
looks a bit more substantial than the 55 in my opinion.

I don't have the 55, but I'm routinely amazed at what I can hear on the 77.

RL,

Never had my hands on a Sony ICF-SW55, but I have been
able to play with the Sony ICF-SW77 Receiver a few times.

IMHO: The Sony ICF-SW77 has the size and feel of a 'portable'
Table Top Receiver; good sound for a radio of its size; and
with 4 "C" Batteries should last longer then the Sony ICF-SW55
which only uses 4 "AA" Batteries.

I bought an SW-55 in 1996. I had researched a little about both the 55 and
the 77. My understanding was that the 77 was the better radio.

However, the 77 wasn't available in New Zealand so I ended up buying the 55.
I still have it. It has travelled much of the world with me and is an
excellent performer, especially for its size. I have DXed all manner of
things with it.

As I say, I believe the 77 is a better-speced radio, but the 55 is certainly
excellent. (My much older Sony ICF-2001D (exactly the same as ICF-2010) is
better still than the 55!)

Mark.
Auckland,
New Zealand.

I haven't owned either the SW77 or the 2010 but compared to any other
totable portable
it its size category (7600GR, YB400, Degen1103) the SW55 is by far the King.

If I had a choice however, I would go for the SW77 simply because of the
Sync Detector
which the SW55 lacks. Other than that I haven't read any other positives of
the SW77 over
the SW55 except for size differences if that is an issue for you.

All manner of things? I'm envious. All I can get are radio signals.
Stupid radio....

Check these Yahoo groups. They usually have many good
