Default (OT) - Can America (USofA) Still"BE" America ?

Received from an Old Friend from Work who was:
- US Air Force Retired
- US Civil Service Retired
- Combined 45 Years + Service to his Country
..
Story in Tampa Newspaper
..
Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America
if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people
from other countries that came to live in America because it
is the Country of Choice ? ? ? ? ? ?
Think about it . . .
..
All I have to say is, when will they do something about
MY RIGHTS? I celebrate Christmas, but because it isn't
celebrated by everyone, we can no longer say Merry Christmas.
Now it has to be Season's Greetings. It's not Christmas
vacation, it's Winter Break. Isn't it amazing how this
winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday?
We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to
not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it
seems that no one has a problem with that.
This says it all!
..
This is an editorial written by an American citizen,
published in a Tampa newspaper He did quite a job;
didn't he? Read on, please!
..
IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we
are offending some individual or their culture.
Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have
experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority
of Americans. However, the dust from the attacks had
barely settled when the "politically correct! "
crowd began complaining about the possibility that our
patriotism was offending others.
..
I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge
against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming
to America. Our population is almost entirely made up
of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few
things that those who have recently come to our country,
and apparently some born here, need to understand.
This idea of America being a multicultural community
has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national
identity. As Americans, we have our own culture, our
own society, our own language and our own lifestyle.
This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles,
trials, and victories by millions of men and women who
have sought freedom.
..
We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic,
Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language.
Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society,
learn the language !
..
"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not
some Christian, right wing, political slogan..
We adopted this motto because Christian men and women,
on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this
is clearly documented.
It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls
of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you
consider another part of the world as your new home,
because God is part of our culture.
..
If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like
Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move
to another part of this planet. We are happy with our
culture and have no desire to change, and we really
don't care how you did things where you came from.
This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle.
Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to
express his opinion and we will allow you every
opportunity to do so! But once you are done complaining,
whining, and griping about our flag, our pledge,
our national motto, or our way of life, I highly
encourage you take advantage of one other great
American freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.
..
It is Time for America to Speak up
If you agree -- pass this along;
if you don't agree -- You have the right to leave too !!
..
AMEN
..

To which I would simply add:

God Bless America - amen, Amen. and AMEN ! ~ RHF

I *generally* agree with this argument, barring some of the more
specific concerns that are stated...but I really think the "Merry
Christmas" thing is overstated. Your friend has every right to say
"Merry Christmas" to whomever he wants - if the receiving party doesn't
like it, that is the receiving party's problem. I'd guess that,
underneath, your friend seems to be more concerned that *he* may feel
uncomfortable if he says it to the wrong person and then finds out he
said something meaningless to someone that was intended to be a nice
gesture. If so, that is your friend's problem, not the other guy's.
If he doesn't want t be PC, he doesn't have to be.

He needs to get over it. There is no requirement that we refrain from
saying Merry Christmas to Hindus, and there is no requirement that
Hindus must understand and agree with the sentiment. Say it in a
spirit of goodwill - some will return the gesture, some will be
Scrooges, some will be puzzled, and some will be offended. For the
last three, just shrug it off.

I like Buster Keaton. I will say, on his birthday, Happy Buster
Keaton's Birthday. If someone doesn't like it or care, so what? Or
worse, if someone doesn't like Buster, TS. I like Buster, and I'll
celebrate his birthday openly.

A Merry, Joyful, Deeply Religious and Spiritual Christmas to EVERYONE,
whether you like it or not ;-)

When I was a kid, there was a phrase

'Protestant work ethic'

Now, it's

'Judeo-Christian work ethic'

I was merely being sympathetic to your post. Things ARE being changed
by people who don't like the way things are and not for the good.

Not true, and everyone knows it.

Now it has to be Season's Greetings. It's not Christmas
vacation, it's Winter Break.

No, it's Christmas break. Anyone can call it that.

IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we
are offending some individual or their culture.

So, stop worrying.

Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have
experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority
of Americans. However, the dust from the attacks had
barely settled when the "politically correct! "
crowd began complaining about the possibility that our
patriotism was offending others.

So what? We've always had a politically correct crowd. How 'bout ignoring
them?

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge
against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming
to America. Our population is almost entirely made up
of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few
things that those who have recently come to our country,
and apparently some born here, need to understand.
This idea of America being a multicultural community
has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national
identity.

The US has always been multi-cultural. It is much, much more homogeneous
today than at any other time in its history. The various regions used to
have a much more distinct identity than they do today, and, it might
interest you to know, our Founding Fathers wanted this country to be very
distinct, self-governing, united states, not one country.

As Americans, we have our own culture, our
own society, our own language and our own lifestyle.

Apparently, this guy hasn't traveled much around the US. The above
statement is ridiculous.

This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles,
trials, and victories by millions of men and women who
have sought freedom.

I.e., by immigrants who came here and brought a little bit of their culture
with them. That process continues today, just as it has, continuously, for
the last three centuries.
.
We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic,
Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language.

This guy really needs to get out more. We speak just about every language
on the face of the Earth here.

Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society,
learn the language !
.
"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not
some Christian, right wing, political slogan..
We adopted this motto because Christian men and women,
on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this
is clearly documented.

No, it's not. The Constitution clearly states that the government shall
neither establish nor prohibit any religion. For sych a true-blue
"patriot", you'd think this guy would have read the Constitution.

It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls
of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you
consider another part of the world as your new home,
because God is part of our culture.

Whose God?

If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like
Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move
to another part of this planet. We are happy with our
culture and have no desire to change,

I am happy with my culture, and I thank God that it isn't this guy's
culture.

and we really
don't care how you did things where you came from.

Yeah, we do! This is a big, interesting country, in a big, interesting
world, and everyone has their little part to play.

This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle.
Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to
express his opinion and we will allow you every
opportunity to do so!

"We" will, huh? Oh, thanks.

But once you are done complaining,
whining, and griping about our flag, our pledge,
our national motto, or our way of life,

Your way of life, or mine? Or whose?

I highly
encourage you take advantage of one other great
American freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.
.

You hit the trail now, 'tard boy... and you keep toting that portable.

Someday you'll learn some manners, and perhaps become a better Ambassador for
Canaduh.

Get back to me as I said, when you get a grip on the DX'ing thing.
