Default RFI source

I've mentioned my rfi problems here in the past, but I just noticed
something I hadn't before. If I sit on a frequency where the rfi is present
it will abruptly cease in about a minute, and move up or down in frequency
roughly 30 kHz to occupy another point previously unaffected, and on and on.
Is what I've described indicative of a particular source of rfi?

Did you re-tune another nearby radio?

Nope, just the one set up right now.

Possibly something like central air, heat exchager, etc. Possibly something
that uses a thermostat or timer.

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to investigate this a bit more.

Maybe you are being tapped. New bugs change frequency every so often.
Possibly our patriot act at work.

I'm probably not interesting enough to be spied on, however hanging up a
wire antenna may have seemed a little suspicious to my neighbors.

Might be a nearby television. If so, the noise frequency will change
when the picture content changes considerably (i.e. not when someone
moves an arm, but when the picture changes from a car to a house).

Got any Dewalt or Black & Decker rechargable tools
in the house that are plugged in on charge? My Dewalt
cordless drill can be in another outlet circuit on the
opposite side of he house and the base charger still
can put much noise into the R-71. Unplug them
and see if the noise dissapears.

No, but I do have a couple of cordless phones with chargers, one of which
could be the culprit. I think I'll go through the house tomorrow, throw the
breakers and unplug everything I own(this may take a while), and maybe get a
better idea what the problem is. I'm going to get this straight eventually.
Thanks folks. 73,

-Brian
