Had exceptionally fine reception of African stations on 49m and 60m
here in California, US on the morning of January 6, 2005. Notably, Accra, Ghana on 4915 at about 0630z was extremely strong (s9+20) and easily heard in English, with the OM listing lottery numbers, IDs at 0631 and nifty music. Best reception in recent memory. Also, R. Burkina on 5030 at 0640z easily overpowered University Network, with strong S9 and clear signal in FF, interview with many mentions of Ouagadougou and discussion of radio presentations. Never heard this well before. This station lists as 50kW, but did they get a new transmitter or antenna? This signal just kept getting better past 0700, with tres cool African music. Other Africans on 4777, 5995 and 7125 also had good signals, somewhat better than commonly heard. Did not try R. Bangui, Central African Republic on 31m but I'll bet pocket change that they were well heard too. An ocean away, Arnie Coro at RHC reports on January 5 that R. Rebelde, Cuba, has a new 50kW transmitter on 5025 - how old? Their signal seems newly potent...Arnie himself welcomes reception reports on R. Rebelde for QSLs. Sure would like to hear R. Quillabamba again though... Bruce Jensen |

Great. I noticed the same thing. I hit a couple Adventist World Radio
signals from South Africa . I haven't been having much luck in the frequency area listed because of the dratted interference. Good job ![]() "bpnjensen" wrote in message oups.com... I have lotsa QRM on 60 meters, and it's a real drag - but the MFJ-1026
I use helps a great deal with proper antennas. Similar to the ANC-4. I use an R75, and its noise blanker has also been helpful on this band, if not the coup-de-grace to noise. Bruce Jensen |

He says that they have just rehabilitated one of their two 100 kW transmitters and are testing it. Hence, the strong signals that we have been receiving (Hans Johnson, Cumbredx mailing list Jan 5 via Mike Terry, BDXC-UK via DXLD) 5th Jan they were already back on their normal 6165 kHz. Sign-on with fish eagle IS from 0245, from 0251 NA and 4910 divided to the other network. 73, (Mauno Ritola, Finland, ibid.) I'm not sure whether they are using 4500 on a regular basis now or simply testing, but, the fish eagle interval signal is something to hear for sure. dxAce Michigan USA |

The outlet which has been recently reported to be from Bangui on 31 meters is thought to be either via Gabon or France itself per some recent reports. dxAce Michigan USA |

I haven't heard 4500 yet, but their 4910 frequency is the most reliable
ever at my California QTH, better than the 6-MHz freqs ever were. Bruce Jensen |

Could be - although it wasn't listed as a relay. Do the reports say
whay they think so? I never heard the broadcast enough to hear if they identified as such. Bruce Jensen |

At least from reports it is fairly certain it is not direct from CAR, but rather either Issoudoun in France or via Gabon. Apparently some conflicting info in the current HFCC data also. I myself rather doubt that it is direct from CAR. dxAce Michigan USA |
