Sonet the afternoon experimenting with
some new ideas for a feedline. We tried shielded and unshielded (lamp cord). The unshielded was bad. Very bad. The shielded was the best, from a low ingress, or no signals from my radio pc getting back into the antenna. Got ot: members.aol.com/WA1ION/nrants.pdf to see the basic setup. I halved R1 and put 5 Ohms in series with each side. The 270 Ohm does make a clear difference in this application. I grounded the shiled at the antenna only. The shield made no connection at the 1:1 transformer end. Both of the inner balanced pair were connected to the 1:1 and brought into the radio room as shown. The 1:1 is mounted in an altoids tin that is grounded to the bulkhead outside my radio room. No cable is grounded at thet end. There was no trace of birdies from my PC, infact there was a minimum, much less then before, of impusle static when I turned lights on and off. The TV/VCR/DVD produced no birdies. Themicrowave did jam everything. This cble was so old that the printing was so faded that we couldn't read the cable number. I will try to find a comparable smaple and report the number here/ At this point I have to say that a shielded balanced feedline is much better then anything else Ihave tried. Microphone cable was dead. With it I got NO signal at any freqeuncy.
