Hi guys. I'm not sure this is the right place for this question, but
some of the other newsgroups seem quite dead and I'm sure someone in the shortwave crowd has the answers. I'm looking for a listing of UHF/VHF TV channels. Specifically, I live in Cleveland and would like to pick up CBC on my antenna. I'm not sure which channel it is. There are several stations that come in fuzzy so its hard to tell. I know NBC is 3, ABC, is 5, FOX is 8, etc. If I remember correctly from my childhood its channel 10 but I'm not sure (that station says PAX now but the audio doesn't match the picture oddly enough). Perhaps someone has a better idea (or perhaps CBC is on multiple channels that could be received). Looking to pick up the new "Doctor Who" series being broadcast on tuesday April 5th at 8PM. Thanks in advance. |

Try searching around the CBC or Canadian government websites (I'm not sure what the broadcasting regulatory body is in Canada; you'll want to look there) to find a database similar to the FCC's. Low power TV stations (LPTV) are popping up all over the US nowadays, and they can be a serious nuisance if you're a TV DXer. For example, I used to be able to get KSBW channel 8 out of Salinas here in Sacramento-until a LPTV station playing the Home Shopping Network popped up on the "unused" channel. Pax is a minor network that frequently runs on LPTV; it's supposed to be "family friendly" and runs reruns of shows like America's Funniest Home Videos. If the channel you wish to get is on 10 and Pax is in the way, you'll need some pretty fancy antenna work to null it. ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- |

I'm looking for a listing of UHF/VHF TV channels. You might try my website, URL in the signature... CBC used to be channel 10 but not anymore, that station (CFPL-TV) disaffiliated from the CBC a few years back. A good thing as channel 10 would be a lost cause today. (CBS's digital signal is on 10 and would clobber the Canadian station) I don't know why you're seeing Pax, my guess is you're seeing a leak out of the cable TV system. Pax's over-the-air channel in Cleveland is 23. CBC channel 10 was out of London, Ontario. The new CBC channel in London is 40. You might also try channel 56 (Kitchener, Ont.). A few other CBC channels that might work but are somewhat further afield are 9, 20, 42, 44, and 45. -- Doug Smith W9WI Pleasant View (Nashville), TN EM66 http://www.w9wi.com |

I'm looking for a listing of UHF/VHF TV channels. The ultimate source that I've found is http://www.fcc.gov/mb/video/tvq.html You feed the web form your latitude/longitude (in degrees arcminutes arcseconds form), and give it a distance and it gives you a list, with bearing in degrees and distance, to all the TV stations within that radius. It includes Canada, although some comments in another newsgroup said that the Canadian data may not be up to date. Mark Zenier Washington State resident |
