letter from Z. Densmaa and a couple of postcards.

This station has some really bad hum on the audio on many occasions.

They are really pushing tourism there...I'm fairly close...hmmmmmm.

Hi Frank,

I managed to hear Mongolia quite a number of times when I lived in Montreal
(late 1995-early 1999) with a random wire antena hooked up to my boatanchors.
The winter months were better for reception.

Good DX

Tebojockey,

Can you hear Mongolia on 7260 kHz around 0800 or so?

Let me know how you like Mongolia if you do decide to go. My top 3 vacation picks right
now would be Myanmar, Mongolia and Nepal/Tibet (that is if things ever cool down in
Nepal!). I've been to Laos and Cambodia and really enjoyed Laos.

Good DX

He is on an island in the South Pacific. "CNMI" means Confederation of
Northern Marianas Islands.

Close.... it's Commonwealth rather than Confederation.

I haven't tried for them recently but in the past they've certainly been audible
here in Michigan.

Hi John,

I'll give 7260 at 0800 a shot. I presume that's 0800 GMT? That's
1800 local here. Just about suppertime.

7260 is a mess right now. Radio Vanuatu is on with 10kW, but they get
squashed all the time by mainland China popping up on the freq.

I did a lot of work in Cambodia back in the late 90's in the paging
industry...and I have to say I had a great time. It was definitely
the wild west and a single man's paradise back then, but I assume
things have settled down on the latter at this point in time.

The cards Mongolia sent me were nice. There's one of these huge
mountains which look quite picturesque. If I do decide to hear out
there, I'll definitely let you know.

73 and regards,

Al in CNMI

He is on an island in the South Pacific. "CNMI" means Confederation of
Northern Marianas Islands. He gets a lot of stuff that I can't get in
California, although to be fair much of what he gets is broadcast in the
wee hours CA time. Reception of Asians is generally better on the west
coast of US/Canada and of course on Pacific Islands. As a consolation
prize, you guys have better reception of Africa and the Mideast.

Actually, Africa is king here in the early morning hours and in the
early evenings, the Brazilians rule. I don't think I've *ever* been
more fortunate in a job assignment/dx location!
