if it's CO2 related and we can materially reduce CO2 it's not
important if we ''caused'' it or not. Just important that we could
have TRIED to delay or reverse it and we did nothing.

I guess your whining constitutes 'doing something'.

Significant Weakening Of Gulf Stream Detected

Scientists have found evidence that the sinking mechanism that
drives
the Gulf Stream has weakened to less than 25% of its original
strength. The results could mean a significant cooling for Britain
and
Europe.

original news source:

www.timesonline.co.uk
CLIMATE change researchers have detected the first signs of a
slowdown
in the Gulf Stream — the mighty ocean current that keeps Britain and
Europe from freezing.

I wonder if this means a revival of the Scottish ski industry,
currently in decline due to dwindling snowfalls? ;-)

Even here in Michigan (USA) we haven't had any really good snow since the 60's
save for some nasty stuff in '77 and '78 or so. The ski industry has been
suffering here as well.

I though, am looking forward to planting a few palm trees and perhaps an orange
grove to help tide me through my years as a pensioner.

You may be interested to know that there are a small number of
palm trees in peoples' gardens on the north/west coast of Scotland
(c.58 degrees north). Though it's not exactly tropical there; in some
places the temperature rarely goes below freezing, because of the
"gulf stream". This is good enough for some types of palm, apparently.

And the same area of Scotland is also an excellent place for
DX-peditions seeking the ultimate trans-Atlantic MF catches;
localities remote from power lines and other sources of noise.

eg. Sheigra.http://mwc.online.fr/mwc2/mwcdxped.htm

First we burn now we freeze. The ultra left won't give up.

Umm... the only thing you can reliably count on with global warming is
that whatever climate you are used to isn't going to be there.

The only people left who deny global warming is a problem are idiots
who get their scientific advice from Rush Limbaugh and his
equivalents.

This is a shortwave group. If you actually listen you should be
relatively current on news. Did you know that Sweden spent a freaking
fortune trying to save a glacier by *wrapping part of it in a huge
blanket????* Climatologists kinda snickered and said, good luck.

Even an asshole moron like Prickets is right occasionally, though not
through any consious effort of his own.

...year 9 of a drought here... nothing to see, move along now...

OBTW: Google "atlantic conveyor" to figure out what's going on. If
you are *very* fortunate, you won't live to see the result of your
stupidity.

Climate change has been going on for eons... it's been colder, and its
been
warmer, many times. This just happens to be another period where its
getting
warmer.

True. But then again eons ago didn't have billions of people and highly
complex civilizations. Dramatic changes in the climat can lead to
droughts
and floods and eventually famine and plague that would destroy people and
economies.

Can't do much about it 'tard... so please, try not to have a hissy fit.

Gee, didn't think I was. Trying to have a frank discussion about what kind
of world we are going to have. Mybe you don't have kids, but I do and I
care.

And yes, there is something we can do about it. We just haven't applied our
collective minds to it.

Merely get a few more insurance claims in. You've done very well up until now.

And we know this HOW David? Papyrus scrolls with CO2 records? Cuneiform rock
carvings describing changing CO2 levels? Monastic lab books full of CO2
experiments? Do you even KNOW how to determine or quantify atmospheric CO2
levels?

It's easy enough to find. They take ice core samples at the poles and ancient
glaciers.
