Default Wahhhhhhhhhhhh.... I got ripped off!

I bought a Drake R7 a few years ago on eBay and the guy told me it was mint.
Upon opening the original box I discovered a small hairline scratch on the
bottom plate.

Whatever should I have done? Used a less powerful magnifying glass?

Your input appreciated.

Steve, you got seriously screwed. Let me help you out by purchasing said
defective radio from you for $25. I'll even pay shipping. :-)

The way things seem to be going price wise I'm afraid it looks as though
shipping will be over $1000, and then once one figures in the UPS charges, who
knows how much it might be.

that's terrible = shocking beyond words.
you should have sent it back straightaway and blacklisted the seller

P.S. I'd love a R7A though in any working condition - bugger the scratches.

I suggest you publicly crosspost his name, callsign (if applicable),
address, and phone number and start a flaming thread exposing his nefarious
deeds for all the world to see, threaten his dog (or his family if he doesnt
own one), threaten litigation and report him to Consumer Affairs, Postal
Inspectors, the Better Bidness Bureau, Ebay Complaint Dept., and his local
Chamber of Commerce. Acquire an anonymous account and manufacture posts and
emails to discredit him, then go online to a background checking service and
get any information available (driving record and credit reports) and
crosspost that to various related newsgroups with a link to a blog website
where you can copy and paste all of your past communications and insults and
dirty information and link to them accordingly. Oh, and be sure to include
his full name in the header subjects of your flame posts so that a Google
search will bring up all of the information and retain it for years to come.

See if he ever sells scratched merchandise again!

If it was minor and the price was reasonable I would have just enjoyed
the radio. But aren't you a bit late to worry about the deal???????

Yes, I know. I was using it earlier this afternoon and I was beside myself
simply thinking about that hairline scratch on the bottom plate.

Really ruined the listening experience for me.

I'm certainly sorry for bringing it up, but it's certainly a sore spot for me.
That darn eBay... they should be shut down.

I was on the phone this afternoon with the Mauritanian Embassy, perhaps I should
have mentioned it to them in our conversation. They may have been able to do
something.

Thankfully I went blind as a young boy and not troubled by such defects. My
blindness was brought on by over indulgence and I have the hairy palms to
prove it
