Default Alice's Restaurant Rock Radio - 9290 kHz short wave on 14 August 2005

Classic Rock Radio Society Press Release:

No funk, No punk, no junk!

Described in the national press as a "rock giant",
London's legendary album station; Alice's Restaurant
Rock Radio, returns to rock your radio, on Sunday 14th
August 2005!

However, this time round Alice's isn't just aiming for
part of London & suburbs with a small 50 watt pirate
radio transmitter. Alice's is targeting the entire
European continent, via a very powerful transmitter &
antenna, producing a perfectly legal 3.2 million watt
signal, which can be heard anywhere in Europe. All
you'll need is a radio that covers 9290 kHz short
wave. Many people have short wave but never use it, as
there's nothing of much interest to listen to on short
wave, until now.

Station Manager, Bear Freeman; "The staff of Alice's
will once again take the pioneering role, by way of
being the only radio station broadcasting a genuine
rock format on ordinary portable radio, that can be
taken anywhere. There has never been anything like
this for European rock enthusiasts, who can now, at
last, turn their own radios on and hear their own
music. The format will encompass all genres of rock
music, and even rock comedy appropriate to members
of the rock community, which we originally introduced
to the UK during the 1970's. We've been around for a
long time and we intend to continue to champion rock
radio, widening radio listener's choice and expanding
Alice's short wave transmissions. Keep an eye on the
Alice's website for details".

Alice's rock jocks confirmed so far include; Bear,
Nigel Grant, Scare, Dave Robbie; all veterans of rock
radio, some of whom have been broadcasting since the
mid 1960's. Collectively these guys have provided more
rock radio over a longer period than anyone else!

Programs will be produced in studios at the heart of
Alice's old stomping ground; the north eastern borders
of London.

Outside short wave broadcast hours, Alice's is also
available 24/7 as a CD quality web stream. See the Alice's website
for details.

Turn on, tune in, ROCK OUT!

London's legendary album rock radio station; Alice's Restaurant, will
re-launch, and start pilot test transmissions, for a pan-European *real*
album rock radio service.

Inspired by Europe's first big album stations; Radio 428 & Geronimo
[1969/70] pioneers of album rock radio, who have championed the cause since
even earlier in the 60's, will be involved in the project. Though it's been
said about other radio stations, Alice's is arguably the station that
discerning rock enthusiasts have been waiting over thirty long years for!

Back in the 1980's like London's Kiss FM, Alice's Restaurant was an fm
pirate station. With a team which includes members who have provided album
rock programming on various landbased pirate rock stations since the 60's,
it's perhaps not surprising that Alice's has an impeccable reputation for
playing 100% album rock - AC/DC to Zeppelin, Aerosmith to ZZ Top, Accept to
Zappa, and that's just a few A to Z's, there are many more rock bands who
received a jolly good airing, that are simply too numerous to mention here.
Put another way, it's easier to list the ones that weren't played..... (much
more on the website...)
