Mike Maghakian picked up the phone and called Eton to get the full skinny. Mike reports that these are the differences in the new S350DL vs S350: 1) There is now an AFC circuit for MW/SW which significantly eliminates drift. 2) The speaker is now 4 3/4 inches. 3) Headphone jack is now stereo and includes a nice pair of headphones. 4) Clock can be set in modes that it could not be set before. 5) Radio can use 4D and 4AA batteries with a switch and both can be in the radio at the same time. Thanks Mike! |

I just can't get myself to spend $150 on a single conversion radio. It
was hard enough to spend $100 on the S350 that I have. Don't get me wrong, my S350 is my "sitting on the back porch at night while drinking beer" radio and I enjoy using it a great deal, but with the sub $100 stuff that Degen is putting out these days, I think that asking $150 for that kind of performance is pushing it. jamulc wrote: Presumably, there's less drift. http://www.universal-radio.com/catal...able/0036.html |

I agreee with you Brian, and the 7600 is a more compact radio which may matter to some folks. |

I never owned one but was checking it out in the Sharper Image. I like the way the radio feels and the tuning knob has a nice feel to it. As Mark pointed out most people want or like a tuning knob on the radio. They just seem to go hand in hand. But I don't think it's worth $150 for these extra options. I'm considering picking up an "open box" S350 for like $60 on Ebay. That's what I think they are worth new. No more then $80. Now I'll wait till reviews come out for the new one just to see what gives. Lucky |

I own one of the very first Tecsun BCL-2000s (the original Chinese version
of the S350) to be shipped outside of China, and I have never seen a reason to "fix" this radio. Sure, the frequency drifts some. I consider it a badge of honor to own an analog radio with a little drift. But this radio's real charm is its size, its look (I have one of the original candy-apple red ones), its sound, and its sensitivity. I am 100% satisfied with mine, and wouldn't pay a penny more for any of the latest version's supposed improvements. |

While I was playing with it in the store, I took a liking to it immediately with it's style and personality. Has a nice feel and look to it. But, I have no idea how good it's performance is. I have a Degen 1103 for my portable. My Lowe HF-150 is portable too but I just can't take it outside yet. I think it's too good of a receiver to take any unnecessary chances with it! I mean it. But, I could see myself taking the S350 out for a walk and some ice cream.... Lucky |
