At least 6 explosions on the subway & one double-decker bus, now CNN
says a number of (3) explosions on buses. Unofficial reports of unexploded bombs found, but haven't seen verification yet. Lots of confusion still, even from "official" sources. Are noe admitting possible terror attack, instead of power surges as claimed in first reports. All underground/subway trains shut down, as well as busses in "Zone 1" (some reports now say city wide). Cell phone network has been shut down (can be used for remote detonation). Live news feeds cutting off (overload of communication network due to panic?). Land lines also overloaded having problems. Buckingham Palace sealed off, police on streets with weapons and rooftops with biniculars. At least 2 confirmed dead, 90+ casualties. Anyone getting reliable up to date info on SW or net please advise. CeeTee wrote: Just reported, many explosions happening, more to follow.. |

I have a feeling this is NOT an Arab based terrorist attack even though they claimed they did it. I think this is a Euro anti-gov group protesting the destruction of the planet's environment and big corporate energy entities. The fact that this coincides with the G8 tells you a lot. Hope you guys in the U.K. are OK. Good luck mates. Lucky |

Just reported, many explosions happening, more to follow.. 1) While I was able to listen to BBC Radio 4 (the talk station) on line with my saved Real Audio .ram file, the normal way to listen is via a pop up window on their website and I was unable to connect to their web site. So for most people, BBC radio on line was NOT reachable. Here is the pointer for realaudio: rtsp://rmlivev8.bbc.net.uk/farm/*/ev7/live24/radio4/live/r4_dsat_g2.ra 2) I notice that BBC America, a cable/satellite TV network, seemed to be running their normal schedule with news at 1000 GMT (6 A.M. EDT) followed by "Talking Movies" at 1030 GMT and then two more alternations of news and movies. Perhaps they should have been more flexible and just stuck with the news? On the other hand, maybe at this point there isn't that much news to report. |

If you want to see what a bus blown up by terrorists looks like, you
can see a film from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs at http://w3.castup.net/mfa/terror.htm Undoubtedly the most obscene site on the internet, complete with explicit severed limbs. Not recommended within 12 hours either way of lunch. |

I (and I'm sure others) have found time and time again that webfeeds of
various broadcasters fail, when listening counts most --- during a national emergency. Being able to quickly scale up to handle a large number of listeners is very important. Of course, shortwave doesn't have such fan-out issues... I tried both the BBC website and the URL you listed to no avail.
