I don't really need to know which is best, but I'd love to liven up the
group a little. I've researched this question, just out of curiosity, and seem to detect a vague consensus that the Satellit 700 was probably the best of the line. I haven't used the Satellit 700, so I can't offer an opinion, but I'd be curious to know whether others agree or not. The 700s are always available on ebay, and I have found myself tempted at times. Depends on whether you consider the 800 to be a portable.

I own a big Grundig AM/FM/Shortwave wooden cabinet floor model radio
that has a built in Phonograph in the top of the radio. It says so right there on the front speaker (pot metal sign thingy,Grundig) Grundig.A couple of months ago,I looked at the two pamplets inside of an envelope thingy that came with the radio, owners manual and an instruction manual thingy. No where does the owners manual and the instruction say Grundig, instead, they say,Telefunken. The date (as best as I could tell that is printed inside of one of the manuals/pamplets thingy) of manufacture of the radio was 1957.I bought the radio for $14.00 (fourteen dollars) about nine years ago at a Goodwill store that used to be on Palmyra Street (winos and drunks and freaks kept breaking into that downtown Jackson Goodwill store so much,Goodwill had to shut the store down,I am serious!) here in Jackson,Mississippi.(www.devilfinder.com Cool Buildings Of Jackson) Not long after that at the same Goodwill store,I bought a big wooden cabinet Telefunken AM/FM/ table model radio for $4.00. (four dollars) That radio also has an envelope thingy with an owners manual/pamplet inside of the rear panel of the radio.I couldn't find a date, but I believe the radio dates back to the 1960's,perhaps late 1950's.Needless to say,my old radios are not for sale or trade. So,why does my floor model Grundig radio have Telefunken owners manual and instruction manual/pamplets inside of the radio, did it used to be Telefunken/Grundig or Grundig/Telefunken,whatever? Oviously, they are the proper and correct manuals/pamplets for the radio, according to the pictures. cuhulin |

The only Grundig I own and have owned before is my Telefunken
AM/FM/Shortwave/Phonograph wooden cabinet floor model radio that is masquerading as a Grundig radio,I think. It is sitting on my hardwood floor near the corner by one of the front windows in my living room.I have never owned any other Grundig radios before (nowdays, the name Grundig means absolutely nothing to me at all, those modern day Grundigs, that is) this one and in my opinion, when Grundig went to China, they screwed up.Panasonic had some Panaonic radios made in Germany. cuhulin |

I was actually thinking about "real" Grundigs, but sure, throw the 800
into the mix. Steve |

I notice that even dxing.dom gives the 700 more stars than the 650. The
700 is also one sharp-looking radio, for what that's worth. |

Tora! Tora! Tora! movie is on tv now,but I have seen that movie so many
times before,I know it by heart,I can run it better than they can in my brain box with my eyes closed.I am fixin to head on over to the Goodwill thrift store now and see can I find me a Gruntdig satellit radio or any kind of a good old radio for two or four dollars.Stay Tuned. cuhulin |
