Than you must be out of your mind. The Sat 500 has what is arguable
the worst user interface ever foisted on the public, it also eats
batteries for breakfast.

I thought the PS for the 500 (which I don't have) is the same as for the
700 (which I do have). If so then it'll run on NiCads and has a built in
recharger. Mine gets about 15 hrs per charge on a set of "white label"
cells I scrounged out of a lab at work, and fully recharges overnight.
It's certainly a better arrangement than the competition's.
