Have had the radio fo awhile and not really figured the SSB
use on it. Can someone give a little brief explanation and help in using the feature. I read the one paragraph instruction in the manual, and not sure what sound the ssb broadcast is. It has a fine tune pot on the side which I have tried and it will tune stations. |

Center the SSB Clarifier control. Tune the 20 Meter Phone bands. You'll hear ducks quacking. Find a strong one. Turn on SSB mode and adjust the Clarifier very slowly until you hear natural sounding voices (as natural as your average Ham gets, anyway). The Clarifier and the Main Tuning interact, so adjust both if necessary. http://www.arrl.org/FandES/field/reg...locate.html#20 You could also try the Aeronautical HF ATCs. Which aren't as congested: http://members.optusnet.com.au/extre...equencies.html |

Go to Page 9 (hit P then 9); enter the freq. and push the side button
that turns the BFO on and off. You can now use the fine tune pot. For some weird desgn reason you have to be in Page 9 to make the BFO function. The page should also give you 1kHz resolution when tuning digitally. Frank |
