Default IC-R71A Service

We'd discussed this before, but I thought I'd pass this
note along. I e-mailed the service dept of ICOM and
asked about whether the service for the IC-R71A will
still be available. They replied that right now, service
is available for the R71A, and most of the internal
parts are used in other ICOM equipment, so that's not
of much concern. Of concern, however, is that the
potentiometers will no longer be available in a few years,
so you'd be out of luck as far as parts replacement there.
I suppose you'd have to go raiding nonfunctional models
for the pots...

Just wanted to pass that little tidbit along.
